It’s been a busy summer for the residential youth taking part in Gateway Longview’s Summer Youth Work Program! The program offers vocational training to youth by equipping students with tangible employ-ability in addition to life and survival skills.
The vocational experiences youth participate in are provided using a hands on, authentic approach which develops skills using activities ranging from training and education to practice and employment as students move through an afternoon of work during the program.
Gateway Longview’s vocational trading is designed to provide a holistic educational experience which encourages, stimulates interest, and promotes expression of creativity and feelings. It helps students recognize their potential and make available skills and necessary to achieve potential. Students are paid minimum wage for the hours they are employed.
