The purpose of Therapeutic Recreation is to explore, educate, develop and facilitate a youth’s attitude, philosophy, skills, knowledge and practice of healthy leisure and recreation activities for both themselves and their families within their homes and communities. The mission is to give our youth and their families the opportunity to learn, practice, and develop these skills in a constructive, healthy, and safe environment. A comprehensive assessment is used to create and implement a program of leisure skill education, motor skill development, and experiential learning experiences.
Therapeutic Recreation provides the following activities and experiences for our youth:
Weekly group activities
Mandatory Evening Instructional Activities
Music and Drama
Arts and Crafts
Nature and Outdoors
Individual Special Interest Activities: one-on-one activities planned specifically for the individual youth
After School Activities such as Yoga and Fitness
Open Recreation on the weekends and evenings
Job Readiness Training
On-Campus Job Sites
