On Wednesday, June 25, graduating students in grades 8 and 12 were honored during a commencement ceremony at Gateway-Longview’s Lynde School. Commencement speaker Officer Corey Brown of the Amherst Police Department addressed the 10 seniors and nine 8th graders before an audience of family, friends, students, and faculty. Having been the School Resource Officer for many years, Officer Brown spoke of how proud he was to watch the graduates succeed and achieve their goals. In fact, he credited the graduates with changing his life as much as he has changed theirs.

During the ceremony, the Judith Thuman Scholarship and the Amherst Security Professionals Award were both given to Christian A. Christian has already begun taking college courses during high school and plans to attend college locally this fall. He will soon start an internship in the criminal justice field. Congratulations, Christian!

We wish the best to all our graduates and know their future will be bright! For more photos from the ceremony, visit our Facebook page here.
