Gateway Longview names Director of Clinical Services
Kristin Rivera to develop and implement therapeutic approaches to residential treatment services
Buffalo, NY – Gateway Longview recently announced the appointment of Kristin Rivera to Director of Clinical Services for Residential Treatment. Rivera, a certified trainer in treatment models for youth with social, emotional, and behavioral challenges, has been with the agency for 18 years, most recently as Director of the Therapeutic Preschool. Rivera’s passion for and expertise in assisting children and families has led her to her new role.
“Kristin has a vast knowledge of social-emotional development and how to successfully manage the lasting effects of trauma on children, families, and staff members,” said Keith McGriff, Ph.D., Gateway Longview’s Vice President of Residential Services. “Kristin has been a certified regional trainer in proven developmental and trauma-informed therapy models for the past 10+ years and specializes in interventions with children experiencing behavioral and emotional challenges. She has the ideal combination of skills, experience, and knowledge of solution-focused processes to lead Residential Treatment into the future.”
As Director of Clinical Services for Residential Treatment, Rivera is responsible for the provision of appropriate and effective therapeutic services for youth enrolled in residential treatment. Rivera will assess family dynamics, strengths, and needs to ensure youth in care and their families receive therapeutic counseling and support as they work to return to a stable home environment.
Rivera earned her Bachelor of Science and Master’s Degree from Buffalo State College. She is a certified trainer of Solution-Focused Trauma-Informed Care, the Incredible Years Parenting curriculum, and Developmental Education. She is a native of Lockport and currently resides in the Village of Williamsville.
