Date Posted March 9, 2010 Celebrating 120 Years of Service
1890 was a remarkable year in our nation’s history. Did you know that in 1890, the first electric line began operating in Chicago? Inventor W.B.
Purvis patented the fountain pen. Ellis Island opened as a U.S. immigration depot. Plus, Gateway-Longview, the former Buffalo Deaconess Home of the Methodist Episcopal Church and Protestant Home for Unprotected Children, opened the doors to orphaned and abandoned children.
In 2010, Gateway-Longview is celebrating its 120th year of service. A lot has changed over the years, but our commitment to caring for at-risk and disadvantaged children and families remains the same. The faithful founded the mission and still today it is the agency’s devoted partners that enable the dedicated professionals at Gateway-Longview to positively transform young lives. Your past support, present commitment, and future continued partnership is greatly appreciated, especially during this anniversary year. Thank you for helping us reach this momentous milestone for children.
