Buffalo, N.Y. – It’s an award that will strengthen fathers and families across Western New York. Gateway-Longview has been selected as a proud recipient of a $145,000 grant from the New York State Children and Family Trust Fund. The renewable grant will support parenting programs, specifically focused on educating and engaging fathers, both in the community and at Gateway-Longview’s Family Resource Center, located at 347 East Ferry Street, in Buffalo.
Studies show that dads make a difference and children fare better when they are raised by two parents. That’s why Gateway-Longview will utilize this funding to kick start a first of its kind fathers’ parenting program. This recently awarded state grant will expand and broaden Gateway-Longview’s positive impact on fathers and children in our community.
The goal of the parenting program is to support fathers, and father-figures, seeking to build and strengthen their bond with a child or children. This program will be free for fathers and their children. For more information, on this new initiative, or any of the community programs at Gateway-Longview’s Family Resource center, please call (716) 783-3100.
