    How You Can Help

Much has changed since Gateway-Longview's inception in 1890. However, Gateway-Longview's mission of caring for at-risk children remains the same.

Won't you help us help the children?

    Gifts for Gateway

    Celebrate a Birthday
Birthdays should be days full of excitement and joy for every child. Won’t you help provide cakes, gifts, decorations and wonderful memories that will last a lifetime for the at-risk children entrusted in Gateway-Longview’s care?

A gift of $150 will provide three birthday celebrations for children at Gateway-Longview.

    Train a Foster Care Parent
In America, there are on average 115,000 children in Foster Care. Tens of thousands of those children come from New York State. Gateway-Longview’s Foster Care Resource Parent Trainers utilize the Model Approaches to Partnership in Parenting (MAPP) to educate and certify new Foster Care parents. We hold four to six MAPP training classes for approximately 20 prospective Foster Care parents, yearly.

A $330 gift will train two new Foster Care parents.

    Sponsor a Baby
When a baby comes into the care of Gateway-Longview, or into the care of one of our Foster Families, they are in need of love, affection, and lots of supplies. Foster placements can occur in an emergency situation making it impossible for the families to prepare.

In those cases, Gateway-Longview gives the family essential care items, such as diapers, wipes, clothing, formula, toys, car seats, cribs or high chairs, to make the transition as smooth as possible and enable the family to focus on their new baby.

A $520 gift will welcome an infant or toddler into a loving home.

Celebrate A Rich History of Service
Did you know that in 1890, the first electric line began operating in Chicago? Inventor W.B. Purvis patented the fountain pen. Ellis Island opened as a U.S. immigration depot. Plus, Gateway-Longview, the former Buffalo Deaconess Home of the Methodist Episcopal Church and Protestant Home for Unprotected Children, opened the doors to orphaned and abandoned children. For over a century, Gateway-Longview has positively transformed young lives thanks to the generosity of dedicated friends, like you.

A $1,200 gift will honor Gateway-Longview’s legacy and provide much needed support for the at-risk children that need our care.
